Job Details:
SUMMARY:
This supervisor position is responsible for handling livestock. Duties include assisting the general manager in training team members, observing team members to ensure proper procedures are followed; sorting, counting, weighing, tattooing, and penning all animals in a livestock environment. This position will also scale hogs and keep accurate records of yard inventory to include night balance. This position will also assist in booking local hog deliveries and keep accurate book schedules for maintaining plant slaughter operations; learn grade and yield Harvest sheet information, weight docks, and other buying procedures. This position will also cover for other managers when they are absent.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
BS degree in Animal Science or Agriculture preferred.
Experience:
Previous swine experience preferred.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written skills are beneficial.
Computer Skills:
Standard computer skills including generating simple letters, spreadsheets, and or graphics, creating simple queries; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Workday preferred.
Special Skills:
Must be highly motivated in running a successful business. Must be personable, approachable, and have exceptional leadership characteristics.
Travel:
occasional overnight travel.
