SUMMARY: This position will report to the Sr. Mgr of the Tyson On Farm Pick-up team in a supporting role of scheduling trucks, purchasing physical corn and soybeans into our Tyson Feed mills and external locations. Responsibilities include: Managing logistics for the on-farm pick-up team, purchasing corn for Tyson feed mills, finding, and setting up new trucking companies and drivers, identifying new locations for grain origination, working close with the feed mills and LGS team on truck deliveries,
Other duties include: Develop and maintain daily grain bid sheets; coordinate outbound shipments; approve transactions and enter contracts in the portal and Tyson system of record review and utilize market reports data and analysis to develop hedging strategies; travel to farmer gatherings to meet with farmers and discuss Tyson LGS programs and explain LGS to farmers; hedge purchases and build and maintain position reports related to purchases.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Broad knowledge in a financial or agricultural field normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor s degree or equivalent. Preference for a degree in Finance Ag Economics or Ag Business.
Experience: 1 plus years experience required in a grain merchandising and logistics role or 5 years in a similar type of role in purchasing or trading preferred.
Computer Skills: Standard computer skills; experience in Microsoft Office applications required.
Experience with Agris or Endur software a plus but not required. Experience using DTN or other trade quote software a plus as well.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to speak publicly to farmers in presentations.
Special Skills: Knowledge of merchandising practices and flexible contract pricing methods; ability to address groups and give presentations; understand the needs of the farmers and have the ability to work with a wide variety of teams and customers.
Supervisory: NA
Travel: 3-5 domestic trips per year.
